Randy Garibay's

CHICANO BLUES

A rhythm and blues style, which is a blending of horns and guitar with hispanic cultural style lyrics, a genre of music born in the 1950s on the west side of San Antonio, Texas that can only be described as Chicano blues. As the founder and former of this style, Randy Garibay says "This music captures both the tradition and change in the Chicano community. It reflects my Chicano roots, as well as my love for the blues."

Chicano blues lyrics may use one language or be bilingual and makes use of Tex-Mex and or English in the same song. As with the music, the lyrics capture and reflect the tradition and change in the Chicano community.

Chicano blues music was born out of the West Side Sound of San Antonio, Texas. Perfected by such artists and groups as Doug Sahm, Randy Garibay, and Rudy Tee & The Reno Bops. Randy Garibay took the West Side Sound, which he co-founded and developed, added some of his blues licks and lyrics from his hispanic hertaige and the result was Chicano blues.

Don't think that Chicano blues is local to San Antonio or Texas, it has taken California by storm. San Antonio, Texas Chicano Blues Legend Randy Garibay's latest album "Barbacoa Blues" is played on numerous radio stations and is in great demand at the record shops.
