About the Artist and Band
Randy Garibay (lead vocals, guitar)
A San Antonio, Texas legend from the tough streets of the South Side, Randy Garibay, winner of the 1996 Westside Rhythm and Blues Award and the 1994 and 1995 Pura Vida Hispanic Music Awards, is considered by many of his musical peers (including the late Doug Sahm and Augie Meyers of the Texas Tornadoes) as one of the best blues/R&B performers alive today.
Ernie Garibay (bass, vocals)
Randy's younger brother and winner of the 2000 Westside Rhythm and Blues Award. Ernie is a sensational vocalist and bassist in his own right, has performed with countless San Antonio groups, and is also leader of his own group Sunrise.
Bobby Rey (saxophone)
Bobby Rey is one of the very best saxophone players in Texas. Born in East Los Angeles, Bobby was one of the first Mexican American musicians to play jazz, blues, and R&B. He has played with many groups in his career including the Hollywood Argyles, made famous for their hit song of the 60's "Alley Oop".
Al Gomez (trumpet)
Al is San Antonio's "first call" studio trumpet player. He was the winner of the 1998 San Antonio Current's "Best Trumpet Player" Award and has played all over the world as a member of the Texas Tornadoes and The Last Real Texas Blues Band.
Urban Urbano (drums)
Urban has been playing with Randy for over 15 years. Considered one of the best drummers in the area, he also has performed in the US and Europe with the likes of the Smith Brothers, Jimmie Spacek, Eddie Polanco, and Finnish rock star, Jartse.

Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.com
Veteran Tex-Mex bluesman Randy Garibay has a decidedly
different, and eminently entertaining, ethnic perspective on the genre. The San
Antonio singer-guitarist can rip through the electrified protest of the title
track, deliver a traditional Mexican ballad like "Dime Como Le Haces," and wail
on a low-down blues tune like "Love Ain't Nothin' but the Blues" with equal
ease. Garibay's musical expertise is unusually wide-ranging, but it's his
ability to personalize the music, such as on "Los Trabajos Blues," where he
effortlessly transforms a Jimmy Reed rhythm into a contemporary Chicano work
song, that sets him apart. Garibay, a friend and protégé of ,Doug Sahm also
revisits his extensive R&B background with an excellent rendition of Buster
Brown's rollicking classic "Fannie Mae" that showcases his soulful voice and
stylish guitar. "Where Are They Now?" digs even deeper with a retro tribute to a
litany of San Antonio soul pioneers who melded the sounds of the barrio with the
sounds of the ghetto. Throw in a tasty salsa selection in "Lindo San Anto" and a
short macho country ditty, "A Cold Night in Afghanistan," to conclude the album,
and Garibay's title-track advice to "forget the Alamo" becomes persuasive even
to native Texans. --Michael Point
